Hi Everyone,

Is it okay to take Lorazepam or "Ativan" with Tasigna and other tki's? My onc. says fine, but I am just wondering if anyone has heard anything different? Thanks, Josh

I know some others who are taking Ativan with TKIs with no problem.  I have taken Clonazepam (similar type of med) with Gleevec and it's been fine as well.

The drug to drug interactions checker is helpful:

On a related subject, I am researching natural methods of controlling anxiety and will keep folks posted (for anyone who is dealing with this).  I have had some issues over the first year of CML treatment that I thought were actual Gleevec side effects, but after starting some low-dose Clonazepam ... the symptoms vanished.  Wow.  So there is certainly merit to the mind/body connection, and I'm hoping to figure this out without the use of medication.  We'll see.

Hope this helps!

Hi Josh,

I took Ativan with no issues.  I didn't take it at the exact same time as Tasigna though.

When I was having major anxiety issues, right about this time last year actually, I did start taking Ativan.  I think I took about 8 pills (used for emergencies; I focused more on counselling and CBT).  I haven't had a pill since September and am pretty much anxiety free now.

I bring this all up because if at all possible, benzos are not really something you want to be on.  You won't really be free with them.  I suggest googling for TEA forms and getting a book by Sam Obitz.  Might not seem like it applies, but I promise it will help.

Hey Taylor - which specific book by Obitz would you recommend?  Definitely interested in this topic...

Hi Dan,

Ah, here's the site: http://www.tao3.com/index.html  It's called Been There, Done That?  Do This!

It seems like it's geared toward depression or dysfunction but regardless it's extremely helpful!
