I was Formerly Diagnosed on March 14, 2012 with CML and still hasn't hit me yet

Well Dang, Charlie Jo,
Welcome to the boards, though no one wants to be here, you'll find others with CML to help you sort things out
It's been so long since I was dx'ed I can't remember how long it took. Though, I felt like the walking wounded for quite some time.
If others don't stop in, ck out the CML forum and introduce yourself. These boards can be a tad confusing, particularly when one is in less than top form.

Welcome Charlie_Jo. The first month or two will be "numbing" but hang in there. It WILL feel better after a while. Please visit our Discussion Board often. You will find it to be a great source of information and support.

Sorry, I still remember what it felt like to get the news - that was almost two years ago. I can tell you that it is much different today then it was then. I wouldn't have believed then that I would ever get to a place where I felt alright with things, but I have. It takes time, but you will get there. Take it easy on yourself and try not to get caught up in the "I'm going to die" phase. The odds are overwhelmingly in your favor that this will not kill you. It will annoy you, it will inconvenience you, and you will wish you didn't have to deal with it. But at the end of the day you will survive it. So take time to get used to it. Learn about the treatment plan - it's pretty straight forward, 1)take your pill and keep disease in check, 2)learn how to live with any annoying side effects from taking the pill. Beyond that, the rest will be how you handle it in your own head. Don't let yourself get too far ahead of where you are at any given time. You cannot predict the future so don't get fooled into thinking you can and start worrying about the worst case scenario; that is a lot of wasted energy. Energy will be a commodity you don't want to waste so deal with things as they come.
Ask questions, everyone here can be very supportive.
Best of luck....

Hi: Welcome to our group. This is all so new to you, and Lucky explained it all very well. I can only tell you that I have had CML for 13 years, so just know that you can survive this disease. Hope you come on and ask questions whenever you want, and get the support form everyone also.

Welcome. I am glad you found us. Please ask any questions you might have, no topic is taboo, vent if you feel like it, and hopefully you will find a thing or two to laugh about on here also. You will find a wealth of information, it is sometimes difficult to digest all at once, I read small amounts at a time because I was overwhelmed. I am approaching my 6 month date for diagnosis, but those first few months I drove myself (and my family) nuts, please remember we are all here for you, and there is usually someone checking the boards frequently. Nice to meet you.
