My second PCR test results are in and they are just the same like last time 0.006

The first test was done at 3,5 months on Tasigna and this last one a little over 5 months on Tasigna.

Please Trey explain this to me, what does it mean to have exactly the same PCR tests one after another???

Thanks so much.

It is a statistical oddity.  I don't know if your number is a ratio or a percentage.  If percentage then it is great.  If ratio it is OK.  A plateau is not so unusual.  See what the next PCR says, but it is not a negative indicator of any sort.

Thanks Trey but I'm not sure if I have understood you correctly,

should I be too concerned???

I think 0.006 is the ratio and 2.83 Log Reduction like I said everything is the same like first PCR test.

Do you think my dr. will increase a dose for me, I'm currently taking 600mg Tasigna?

Thanks so much!

Hello Dina,

Your results are good, they are very similar to mines (see this post with all details http://community.lls...e/135577#135577)

A 2.83 log reduction means that you have almost hit MMR, major molecular response (= 3 log reduction), which is a great result for only 5 months of treatment!

At this stage there is no need to be concerned (your results are optimal) and I think there is no need for an increase in dosage

Good luck!

Pierre

It's only 5 months and you are almost MMR, you are doing fine.  I had a PCR jump up and then it dropped big three months later during my first year.  The drugs are great but you have be willing to give things some time.  Most people don't hit MMR until a year or 18 months, if at all.

Dina,

Your results are mine exactly for the last two times. At Mayo .006 equates to .02 on the IS with .1 being MMR. Your doc should be able to tell what scale your lab uses.

DX 12/08; Gleevec 400mg; liver toxicity; Sprycel 100mg.; CCyR 4/10; MMR 8/10; Pleural Effusion 2/12; Sprycel 50mg. Maintaining MMR; 2/15 PCRU; 8/16 drifting in and out of undetected like a wave meeting the shore. Retired 12/23/2016! 18 months of PCRU, most recent at Mayo on 7/25/17 was negative at their new sensitivity reporting of 0.003.<p>

Given your log reduction is nearly MMR, then no worries.  The log reduction numbers are more useful than the raw PCR numbers.
