Hi everyone its me again, I have been on Tasigna for 9 months now and have really struggled with GI issues soon after starting it.  So I am here again with a question, does anyone take a probiotic to help their GI issues? I am worried with starting something like that and being on Tasigna. I know the medicine avoidance lists say to stay clean of herbs, certain minerals etc.while being on a TKI.

Hi Jenz,

Probiotics are actually a bacteria for the gut, no worse then if you ate the acidophilous yoghurts. I'm on Gleevec and got an undetectable at my last blood test (hopefully it continues). I take the one you keep in the fridge. I tried the ones you don't need to keep in the fridge when I went on holiday to SF, but found they didn't work as well.

They'll take a little while to kick in, but nowadays I don't need to be concerned about where the nearest public toilet is when I'm out. LOL.

The other thing is maybe look at your diet - take away coffee from certain shops upsets my gut.

Jenz,

I use the fridge kind too and I agree with GerryL, the non-fridge ones do not seem to work as well. My brand is "NOW", it is an orange label with 4 x 6 acidophilus on the label. Janne

I'm on Tasigna as well, and I use Phillips Colon Health which is a daily tablet with no problem.  I find the yogurt doesn't work for me, probably because I can't stand it so I don't use it as long as I'm supposed to.  I haven't really looked into any others since the pill works well.

My brand is Inner Health - not sure if it is available in the US. Either your chemist or your health food store should carry one of the brands in their fridge.
