For some of you that are more technically advanced than I am, can gleevec cause this?  I just got a note from my regular doc asking for an additional blood test because of this result.  Is this normal if you have CML?  I appreciate any help I can get.  Thanks again everyone and Happy New Year.

Hmm, well, I'm on Tasigna and there was a blip of this on one of my monthly bloodworks.  Nothing too bad I suppose because they didn't order any other special tests and it hasn't come up again.  So, I think it's possible.

That is fairly normal during the first year or so on TKI drugs, sometimes longer.  So your RDW is likely a bit high.  Both the CML and TKI drugs can affect the "blood quality" in ways such as unusual sized RBCs.  That usually resolves itself over time.  It is not a major issue.

Thanks Taylor and Trey.  I was dx 3 years ago with cmr on gleevec in 5 mos.  I have run low on my B count, so not sure if that might be it.  I have been taking a B supplement for about 3 mos.  I do drink one glass of red wine a day, so not sure if that might be an issue also.  This balancing act in bloodwork drives me a bit crazy.
