I'm looking for suggestions as to when the best time to take Gleevec is? I have tried before bed, and in the morning when i get up. I'm trying to figure out the best time to lessen the side effects. Like bone pain, and brain fog, so i can still function during the day.

Any thoughts, or experiences?

I use to take it in the morning and I would get sick because I never ate enough food with it.  Then I started to take it at night which meant I would eat a good amount of food late at night, this worked but I gained weight.  Now I take it at lunch with enough food so I don't get sick then I eat a light dinner later.  I have lost the weight that I gained.  This seems to work best for me and has been for a long time now (going on 10 years).  Everyone is different, you have to find what best works for you and your schedule.

I take mine with dinner and that seems to work for me.

I take it before bed to sleep through any nausea.  I notice if I take it and don't go to sleep, I usually regret it and don't feel great.

I also take it at night right before bed with a couple of crackers and a glass of water.  Seems to make the next day much better for me.  I used to take it in the morning but switching to before bed has been better.

Hmmm, Just thinking about it, I wonder how the website lets us have the same user name...

I thought screen names had to be unique, but that may have changed in an upgrade.  I wonder if one of you has a screen name "John" and the other one filled in real name as "John" without a last name.  Then if display settings are set to screen name for one and full name for the other, it would appear the same.

One other note on taking at bed time, I found this was the best way to keep compliant and always take at the same time of day (for the most part)

Hi John,

I take mine in the morning, but there are people here who have split their dose between morning and nighttime - might be something to talk to your doc about, it seems to have less side effects of nausea and fatigue for them.
