Hi, Elizablest,
I just wanted to tell you that I've started taking 10mg. of atorvastatin (generic Lipitor) with my 50mg. Sprycel. Unfortunately, I can't tell you how well it is working yet as I don't go back for more bloodwork until the end of September. I haven't experienced any muscle pain, etc. I seem be tolerating it well. My liver function tests are spot on.
I don't necessarily watch my fat intake because I've been following a low-carb diet now for several years, but I've followed my bloodwork from since before that time and my cholesterol has always run around 200. What has changed since I started low carb, for me that means cutting out white rice, flour, potatoes, and sugar, etc. and eating lots of veggies, meat, fish, chicken, and mostly the berry fruits, is that my triglycerides have gone way down and my HDL has gone way up. My total cholesterol has pretty much stayed the same. I've got to say I'm not really concerned because my ratios are excellent. However, I will try this to see if it works. A very good friend who is a world reknowned liver specialist says many people can maintain their lower cholesterol level on one pill a week. If atorvastatin works, that will be my next test.
It's unlikely that I'll change my diet; I'm a firm believer in what Julia Child says, all food in moderation. She also told people if they were afraid of a little butter they should try cream. That's my mantra!
Good luck.
Pat
