Most doctors just don't get it. I once told my doctor "after we meet, you don't think about what we discussed for three months, whereas I think about it everyday for three months".

Hi Dina: Let me first say that these doctors aggravate the heck out of me. Years ago when hardly anything was known about CML with the exception of a BMT which was still not fool proof, the average survival rate was around 10 years. I have read that so many times in different articles. When I was first diagnosed, and I had a very good Oncologist he was pushing for the BMT, because my treatment back then was not working. He had nothing else to offer me.
When he retired, and I saw the doctor who took over his practice I did not like the man from my first visit. He had just gotten out of medical school, and was coming off like this big CML Specialist who knew everything. Well, I did leave him, and I am with a new doctor now. I like her, but if at some point I am not getting the right answers I will move on again. This is your body, and I say this over and over again. If something is not right then run do not walk till you find a doctor who knows what he is talking about. I also Love Lucky's answer to it all. Let these doctors walk in your shoes for a few months, and see how they like it.

On the day I got my Dx I went home, jumped on the computer, saw a site that said 8-10 years, logged off right away and cried, then I went to the L & L site and never ever looked at anything except Trey's suggestions, MD Anderson, L&L.
