I don't know whether to be thrilled or scared about the recent increase in my WBC. However, they are within normal range. For those of you who don't know my past, I have suffered from very low WBC, RBC and PLT since my first Gleevec pill. The switch to Sprycel made a huge difference in my life. I am absolutely overjoyed not to get the very painful shots to raise my RBC and WBC anymore. I pray I never have to see another needle for that again. Moreover, I am thrilled not to have to get any more blood transfusions for severe anemia. Lucky for me, found out that I do not respond well to donors' blood (my first blood transfusion resulted in anaphylactic shock---good times...may they never ever come back to haunt me! I am the only person who actually feels WORSE after a blood transfusion. Very scared to think what my body would do to a SCT...but I digress). Now waiting for the PCR to come back... I prefer to live in utter ignorance until then. As far as I am concerned, this is good news until otherwise informed. Just ever so curious about the PLTs. Wonderin' also 'bout the atypical lymphs (never had that before),

Nice work!!! You must be motoring with all those RBCs. I remember Trey saying that platelets are often the last to catch on, not entirely sure why this is the case but hopefully they will soon follow the fine example set by the whites and reds.

Love how they say "results double checked" and then follow up with "consistent with previous history". It's as if they took a double take and then oh yeah we remember this "trouble maker" ;-)

Teds,

The overall counts are very consistent with long term sustained improvement.  This is a great leap forward.  Omedetou.

Hi Teds,

I'm voting for this being a good thing and your body is recovering (if somewhat slowly) from the CML. Felicidades

Hi Tedsey,

Boy it sounds like you've been running around in circles ever since dx. You must have been terrified. I just picture you cuddling your two babies, afraid you won't be around for them. You will be able to enjoy every precious moment with them as long as you live which will be a very long time, and before you know it you will be cuddling your beautiful grandchildren. I have 2 grandsons ages 6&8 and when they come out here I hug them so tight they are so very precious they hug me back so tight. They know I have a problem but they don't know what it is but the love we feel when they hug me just wants my heart to explode. And that's how I know how you feel with your babies. And we are going to be around to see them grow up,graduate,go to college, get married and give us more grandchildren. I don't understand any of the stats as far as cml goes. All I know is at dx I was 90,000 put on 400 mg of G 3 weeks later I got pneumonia, I think I heard someone say my wbc was 2,000 but I'm not sure, I was given 2 transfusions, I ran a high fever 103 even though my pneumonia was clearing up. My onc call in someone from cdc to run tests they found nothing. after I was out of the hospital my onc took me off G for a week. That was Sept 2007. All my bw was fine but the G was giving me so many gi issues he finally gave me a 5 week break from g and I started on Sprycel last Nov. I had the Sprycel headache, and other annoying s.e.for a while. But then I got pretty anemic and my iron level went down to 3. It's supposed to be 20. So I was supposed to get 5 iron infusions a week apart. I had 3 and my hands swelled up when I got home but I didn't give it much thought they went down after a couple days. Then the following week I went for my 4th infusion and after it was done my hands and feet swelled up.Off to the er I go in an ambulance for 2 blocks. I was mortified. The er kept me for a while because my bp was 187 and I couldn't go home until it wen't down. Then a week later I had an appt. with onc and bp shot up to 197. He wouldn't come in the room for a half an hour untill it went down 30 points. It was funny because he was afraid to come near me. I never had high bp so we're still working on it.

But I never could catch on to numbers and pcr's and logs and wbc and rbc and plateletes etc. I know I'm repeating myself but just through the experiences I've gone through I assume I had a lot of ups and downs. I just let my Doctors handle it. I have complete faith in them. I don't know what caused all these minor problems I had but my docs fixed them. And hopefully I'm off to Fla for the winter. I have an onc down there and a lab is right there on the island so I can get my bw done every month. So just listen to Trey so many things can change day to day.If I hadn't listened to him I would be in the nuthouse right now. His knowledge of cml is exceptional but he knows how to tell a friend when to pursue something just for thier peace of mind or give it a couple more months.

Wow...Teds - this is great.  Myelosuppression can be beat!  You did it.  Your normal system is taking over.

(Platelets are a concern.  Has your Onc. talked to you about that?)

6-8 grams Curcumin C3 complex.

2015 PCR: < 0.01% (M.D. Anderson scale)

2016 PCR: < 0.01% (M.D. Anderson scale)

March        2017 PCR:     0.01% (M.D. Anderson scale)
